I have owned this Corvette since 1969 and it hasn't been on the road since 1971. The shop is in the final stages of finish and the projects are all moved in so watch as we get this Corvette back on the road where it belongs.
This is a non original block '61 283 with the original heads and a '56 set of WCFBs. Cam is a solid lifter Wolverine. Ran real strong but has set a long time. I will build a 355 with a '60 set of carbs that will appear like a 270 hp engine. With the 3.36 gears and the close ratio 4 speed the Corvette and I will be happier.
Bearing serial # 881, this is a fairly early '59. I figure November 14, 1958. It has several '58 features that to me make it unique. Originally all black, soft top only, 270hp, and 4 speed it had few options. The only other options being the courtesy light and heater. It was painted several times over it's 1st 10 years and I look off yellow, dk green, white, and red plus primer coats before I got to the original black.
