Just reading this is gonna make you itch! |
With the nasty rack gone, the holes are filled in. First from below and then from the top. Then I made up an aluminium ring to take the new filler cap and glassed it into place. The new filler cap is trial fitted in place. And here's the finished job! |
As you can clearly see...it was broken. What better way to begin learning how to play with fibreglass! Before any repair work was done it was necessary to realign the panel and distress all the cracks. The new shape of the spoiler is beginning to appear. Remember the early 70s Z-28 Camaros? I wanted to even up the look of the lower lip so I did a little 'cut and shut' to see what I could come up with. This is where it stands for now with a rather rough version of some "C5" flutes that I made up. Not too sure about them yet tho. Any suggestions? |
The scoop as purchased was too wide for the bonnet bulge so fitting it in two halves was the only solution Both halves now fixed to the bonnet and ready to be glassed together. With the paint completely removed and sanding now completed all that's left is for the guide coat to be wet sanded to complete the process and it's paint time! Not a bad job I guess, but I ain't ever doing it again! |
