Here is my Vette's engine bay after I had tidied it up a little from how it looked when first purchased. So far it mainly consists of a lot of TLC and elbow grease. While it is difficult to see in these pictures, some of the parts that appear to have been chrome plated are in fact just the bare metal polished to a high lustre. These include the brake booster (now chromed) and master cylinder top as well as the radiator cap and both dip sticks. The hoses have for the moment been covered in a braided hose look-a-like product. Where possible I have removed, shortened, re-soldered and generally tidied up as much of the wiring as I can so far. While the front end was being rebuilt I stripped and repainted the radiator too and fitted twin Flex-A-Lite electric fans.

I have tried to lift the detail of the engine and it's parts as cheaply and effectively as possible while at the same time giving it a distinctive look all of it's own and also trying to make it blend in with the car as a whole. To achieve this end I've painted the radiator overflow and washer bottles, as welll as the air cleaner top to match the body colour. The next part to get the yellow treatment will be the master cylinder. I have now done away with the rubber vacuum lines that go to the headlights and replaced them with polished stainless steel tubing. I also rerouted the wiring down to the chassis rail which totally cleaned up the LH inner fender. I love to be different!

Both the alternator and the wiper motor have been given the treatment so far. I removed each and with an assortment of files, sandpapers and compounds, I've brought them up to a high lustre with buffing wheels and different compounds. Many parts I removed and smoothed before having them chrome plated. These include all the hinges, brackets and springs for the bonnet (hood) assembly along with all their associated nuts and bolts. At the moment in my garage are a few new 'go-fast' parts that will go on when I get the time. I have an Edelbrock Performer inlet manifold (without EGR) on which I am hand polishing the runners at the moment. Along with this there is a complete cam kit from Comp Cams with one of their new Extreme Energy 262 cams. I am tossing up the idea of stroking the motor to 383 Cu In and then putting all the new parts in together. Then when the Richmond 3.7 gears go into the rear end we should really get up and move.
