Engine Damage
Home
3 Pushrods looked like this. This was on the top side and it is just the tip that is broken off/crushed.
This is cylinder no. 8 piston. You can see the chunk of the piston that is missing along with a piece of the ring.
This shows the cylinder wall in cylinder no. 8. It appears to be fine. No scratches or nicks or abnormal wear can be felt by finger.
Here you can see a comparison of color between good and bad piston.
Damage to cylinder head.
Bottom of cylinder head. You can see a fairly large gouge created by the chunk of the piston that was getting smashed to bits.
This is the top of the cylinder head. There are still chunks of the piston embeded into the surface. Many of the chunks still look fresh, i.e. they are not burnt looking. You can also see there is no apparent valve damage. After pulling the valves out there appears to be no damage to the valve seating surface in the head either.
This shows the good side. The teflon valve seals where busted in most of the valves which was letting oil past the valves and the engine was burning a lot of the oil.
Picture of one of the many broken valve seals.
Another picture where you can see the lighter color of the broken piston. Does this mean it had been broken for a long time or did it just not hold compression anymore, resulting in no fire and the fuel washing the top of the piston???
